Feelings Wheel (Kreyol)
Tool Filed Under: Peer Support Tools, Reflection & Self Check-In, Uncategorized, Image
The feelings wheel help us and our families name what we’re feeling and understand how those emotions are showing up in our lives. Each color offers more specific language to describe our emotional experiences.
How to use it:
- Look at the feelings in the circle.
- Choose the feeling or color that matches how you feel.
- Ask yourself: “What is this feeling trying to tell me I need?”
- If you’re unsure, notice any sensations in your body.
- Use the wheel daily to check in with yourself and your loved ones.
We deserve language, space, and tools to care for ourselves and each other.
Kreyol:
Nan yon moman kote Ayisyen ap fè fas ak deplasman, atak, ak estrès k ap kontinye, zouti tankou wou santiman an ede nou travèse enkyetid, depase, ak detrès avèk plis rasinman ak estabilite. Se poutèt sa BEAM ap kontinye tradui pi plis nan zouti nou yo an Kreyòl pou kominote nou yo, avèk sipò (tag: haitiancreoleinstitute).
Wou santiman an ede nou ak fanmi nou mete non sou sa n ap santi epi konprann kijan emosyon sa yo ap parèt nan lavi nou. Chak koulè bay plis presizyon ak langaj pou dekri eksperyans emosyonèl nou yo.
Kijan pou itilize li:
Nou merite langaj, espas, ak zouti pou pran swen tèt nou ak youn lòt.
Image Description: A colorful circular “Feelings Wheel” in Haitian Creole created by BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective). At the top, text reads “Kijan ou vrèman santi w jodiya?” meaning “How are you really feeling today?” The wheel is divided into multiple colored sections representing core emotions in the center—Move (Bad), Tris (Sad), Pezib (Peaceful), Plen Kouraj (Powerful), Kontan (Happy), and Boulvèse (Surprised). Each core emotion branches outward into more specific feelings written in Creole. A watercolor-style splash of purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, and green surrounds the wheel. At the bottom, small text credits Dr. Gloria Wilcox for the inspiration, and BEAM’s website, “www.beam.community,” is displayed.
