How to Navigate Mental Health & Social Media

Practical tools for care, agency, and balance

Slide 2

Social media can connect us and overwhelm us at the same time.

  • It can inform, affirm, and build community
  • It can also dysregulate our nervous systems and attention

Slide 3

Your phone should work with you, not against you.

  • Ask: What do I want right now. Connection, rest, or information?
  • Let intention guide usage instead of guilt or pressure

Slide 4

You don’t have to quit social media to protect your mental health.

It’s all about finding what works for you.

  • Set specific times for scrolling instead of leaving it open all day.
  • Create extra distance from your feed on hard days.

Slide 5

What you consume can show up in your body.

What is your body telling you when you scroll social media?

  • Mute or unfollow content that leaves you feeling anxious, fear or less-than
  • Fill your feed with content that feels honest, kind and calming

Slide 6

Staying informed doesn’t mean staying glued to your timeline..

  • Choose a few trusted sources instead of endless updates
  • Decide when you engage with emotionally heavy content

Slide 7

Let technology help you protect your energy.

These tools make it easier to stay intentional.

  • Screen Time (iOS) / Digital Wellbeing (Android)Set daily limits and downtime
  • Freedom or OpalBlock apps or sites during focus or rest time
  • One SecAdds a pause before opening social media apps

Slide 8

Logging off is not failure. It’s care.

  • Step away without announcing it or feeling like you need to justify it
  • Come back when you feel ready

Slide 9

You deserve a relationship with your phone that supports your well-being.
