Slide 1: Fibroid Awareness Month

It’s Fibroid Awareness Month—a time to uplift a widespread yet

overlooked health issue impacting millions of people with uteruses.

And the burden? It falls heaviest on Black and Hispanic women

.

Slide 2: What Are Uterine Fibroids?

Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors that grow in or on the uterus.

They can cause:

  • Chronic pain
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Fertility challenges
  • Fatigue and more

Yet, they’re often dismissed or misdiagnosed.

Slide 3: The Disparity

  •  Up to

80% of Black women

develop fibroids by age 50.

  •  Hispanic women are also disproportionately impacted.

And yet, there's still

too little research, too few options, and not enough awareness.

This is a reproductive justice issue.

Slide 4: What Needs to Change?

We need:

  • More research into causes and non-invasive treatments
  • Better, safer treatment options
  • Public education to break stigma and silence
  • Policy that centers uterine health equity

Slide 5: Legislation to Watch

Several bills are on the table this month that could change the future of uterine health:

U-FIGHT Act

(Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment)

Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research & Education Act

The Uterine Cancer Study Act

Let’s push for policies that protect our bodies and our futures.

Slide 6: Why It Matters to Healing Justice

Healing justice means caring for our full selves—including reproductive and uterine health.

It means demanding systems that don’t ignore our pain.

It means honoring that our womb stories are worthy of care, attention, and change.
